Project outlines and information will be made available when we market openings and opportunities. We will not be able to disclose further information to applicants. You are however strongly encouraged to conduct your own research into the client or project area prior to your application.
Typically you will have two meetings with the client, one prior to the ‘Statement of Work’, one after the ‘Statement of Work’ and finally a separate interaction with the client with the final presentation. Throughout the process our Strategy Partner will be in touch regularly with the client to provide you with any information required, as well as feedback.
Joining and Work Questions
Although it is important to recognise that each of our projects will be individually tailored to serve our clients’
needs, a project will normally be conducted over a period of around 8-11 weeks, in two sessions. This allows
projects to coincide with university semesters; but also to guarantee quick but effective results for our clients,
employing an Agile methodology.
Our aim is to break the vicious cycle of experience requiring experience. To this end, we value motivation and genuine enthusiasm for projects just as highly as any relatable experience. There is no typical background for LCC consultants: some bring academic excellence, some bear experience from various institutions, and others carry creative vision. We do our best to invite as many applicants to interview each term to give you as much opportunity as possible.
All of our work is offered pro bono to clients. This allows us to make genuine local impact with charities and social enterprises, operate flexibly with local authorities, and give Consultants the opportunity to work with large firms. As such none of our roles are paid, though reasonable expenses for travel to meetings for example may be covered.
For each project a Strategy Partner will be assigned as a specific project mentor to oversee progress and performance. Also offering support will be External Mentors who are professional consultants, and who can offer guidance and industry insight in approaching the project. Furthermore, LCC works with Leeds University Union Consulting Society as well as established consulting organisations to hold events that will help upskill our consultants.
Our projects run parallel to each of the academic terms. Any potential further commitment required by a project will be made clear during or before the interview.
