Leeds Community Consulting (LCC) is a student-led, pro-bono consulting service based out of the University of Leeds. LCC is also a member of the Community Consulting Network, a consultancy network comprised of student-led consulting groups.
LCC has 2 primary aims:
LCC is based on the belief that the student body is a talented yet largely untapped resource that has the potential to provide a fresh perspective. LCC attracts the most intelligent adaptive minds in Leeds and matches them with fascinating clients with a variety of aims and problems. In addition, we provide continuous guidance and industry mentorship for each of our projects, to ensure we deliver the very highest quality professional output.
Although LCC is student-led, our structures provide oversight through the use of industry professionals on our advisory board, and from the experienced mentors that support students on each project. We aim to build the the skills and experience of our consultants, such that they are prepared for work at the top firms across the country and further afield.
Here at LCC, we hire student consultants on a project by project basis. With such a diverse set of skills available in the student body we are very flexible in the work we can offer. Our main areas of expertise are:
These projects will then be carried out by students with expertise, strengths and passion for that particular area in order to ensure the best possible results for your organisation.
Although it is important to recognise that each of our projects are individually tailored to serve our clients’ needs, a project is conducted over a period of around 8-11 weeks, in two sessions. This allows projects to coincide with university semesters; but also to guarantee quick but effective results for our clients, employing an Agile methodology.
LCC works in ‘sprints’ to ensure that each stage of the project is completed to the highest standard. Working alongside our clients, we endeavour to leave a lasting and sustainable impact on our clients’ organisation.
At Leeds Community Consulting, one of our core aims is to aid the professional development of talented students at the University of Leeds. Hence, we hold a flat structure as opposed to a hierarchical one. The ‘ripple’ framework allows our members to take ownership for their own development inside our pre-existing framework.
Through this framework, students have access to a large knowledge base of resources, training opportunities, along with the chance to develop relationships and receive advice through mentoring and networking events.
